The palate is generous with lovely flavours of stone fruits, fig, and subtle brioche. A soft round and seamless mid palate is beautifully framed with a lingering balanced acidity. -
This wine was sourced from the Wilberry vineyard in the heart of Wilyabrup. Hand-picked in the cool of the morning and chilled in cool room overnight before being air bag pressed. Free run juice was kept separate and put to barrel with a turbidity of approximately 400NTU. Fermentation commenced with natural yeasts after a lag of 3 days, and fermented slowly and evenly for a period of 8 days, before being topped. The wine was left in the barrels with minimal batonage for 9 months, and topped regularly. To avoid malo-lactic fermentation the wine was sulfured in May to achieve a molecular SO2 of 0.8mg/l.
Following bentonite fining and cold stabilisation the wine was bottled in December 2025.

Following the very dry 2024 season, we were delighted to see plentiful winter rains, with a record wet August which served to replenish soil moisture and set the vines up well for the season ahead.
Spring temperatures were modest, resulting in healthy canopies and minimal disease pressure. Unlike the 2024 season which saw unprecedented intensity of Marri blossom, the blossom this year was sparse, resulting in significant bird pressure and nets being applied early.
While the growing season was smooth, the impact of the previous vintage’s hot and early conditions resulted in some blocks showing uneven shoot growth and reduced yields.
The warm and consistently dry summer with afternoon sea breezes served to reduce disease pressure, and deliver a long even growing season. This allowed the fruit to develop steadily with exceptional composure, while preserving acidity and freshness.
The 2025 growing season temperatures were close to average and comparable to the 2021 & 2022 vintages, both of which were high quality. 2025 has proven to be an outstanding Chardonnay vintage, with our wines showing vibrance freshness lovely acid, and intense Chardonnay varietal characters.

The Wildberry vineyard is situated on Caves Road, just north of Metricup Road. The vines are orientated North West to South East on north east facing slope.
Wilyabrup typically has diverse soils types, which are well drained and part of the ancient granitic geology of the Leeuwin – Naturaliste Ridge.
Planted on a top soil of loam over gravel with underlaying clay, the soil depth is variable but typically around 30cms. These soils have low water holding capacity which results in smaller canopies and lower yields. These soils provide challenging conditions for vine growth, but which yields dense flavours.
The vineyard was planted in 2000.The site enjoys a very Mediterranean climate, with typically warm dry summers and cool wet winters.
Approximately 1.0 km from the Indian ocean the vineyard experiences significant coastal influence which serves to provide a temperature moderating influence.
Annual rainfall is typically in the order of 700-800mm, most of this falling between May and September.

2025 Rowe Wilyabrup Chardonnay, Margaret River, WA, 96 points
OMG. This is the real deal. Subtle, fine and elegant, yet incredibly powerful and intense at the same time. Ripe stone fruits come to the fore, while the acidity drives the finish, though it never becomes intrusive.
Rather, it confers flashes of pineapple across the palate. A wonderful wine and one that I would love to drink. A bargain.
The wine was aged in french oak (30% new) 13.0% alc
